Social Policy

Social policy

Social policy is a PFWB development priority sphere used to create and implement models of social policy aimed at solving the problem of homelessness and alleviate its consequences within cross-sector and cross-department cooperation.

Cross-sector activity means that public, non-government and private sectors are involved in the process.

Cross-department activity means that entities from different spheres of social policy are involved in the process e.g. labour market, housing, health care system, education, social assistance, judiciary, penitentiary system or public safety institutions.

Creating a coherent system of combating homelessness – Forum is trying to create, promote and help to implement a complete system of combating homelessness based on:

  • Creating systems of intervention (rescue) and basic assistance – Forum supports organisations, units of local government and government departments in creating a complex system of meeting basic needs of the homeless (creating eating places, charity centres, heat distribution centres and nightshelters, streetwork, partnership among services)
  • Creating systems of social integration (getting out of homelessness) – Forum promotes and supports organisations and entities in creating a system of activities enabling and supporting social integration of the homeless (education, vocational activation, training flats, therapies, psychological support, assistance, shelters, activation centres, houses for the homeless);
  • Creating systems of homelessness prevention – Forum promotes the idea of counteracting homelessness as the best way to solve this problem (educating mass media, local communities and young people, forming coalitions with different entities in order to counteract homelessness).
